Project 1
Key Artwork (Week 5 - 12/05/20)
For our Project 1, we are tasked to creatively and conceptually use visual and type in combination to create a key artwork (works like a logo) to be used in collateral for the subsequent task down the line (Project 2: collateral design). The focus here is to use visual elements, and or graphical elements and the title (type) in an experimentative, impactful and visually attractive manner. There are a few things we need to take note of:
Choose one topic out of the three topics from Typographic Systems (Exercises).
Create our key artwork on Adobe Illustrator, because this software is vector-based, hence the quality will remain the same even when the artwork is resized. We can use typefaces aside from the 10 typefaces provided.
Russian Constructivism & Graphic Design
The topic I was interested in is Russian Constructivism. I did my research in the topic. Constructivism was an artistic and architectural philosophy that originated in Russia beginning in 1915 by Vladimir Tatlin and Alexander Rodchenko. The movement rejected decorative stylisation in favor of the industrial assemblage of materials.Constructivists were in favour of art for practical and social purposes, and were associated with Soviet socialism and the Russian avant-garde.
I did mind mapping, which is as following.

FEEDBACK
Week 6
General Feedback:
The artwork has to look like a logo to some degree. Use appropriate typeface and embed visuals that complements the work. Work with black n white. Sketch first, then arrange the elements, identify the ideas, then develop them.
Specific Feedback:
Mr. Vinod liked the research I did for the key artwork. I showed him 6 options for the key artwork, he said some of my attempts look like Bahaus style. I selected 2 of the artworks and asked me to work on them.

REFLECTION
Week 6
My experience was great in this week since I had worked really hard on Project 1 and did a lot of research. I made extra options for my project for Mr. Vinod to select from and give feedback.
I observed that I felt ecstatic because majority of my work was completed. I was at ease for that week and could focus my time on future projects.
I found that Mr. Vinod liked my research and it made me really content and happy.
